Local residents who receive inquiry from the company offering expanded automobile guarantees, are convinced to hang up and name their dealer before to make any purchases, Council of the Industry Alberts Motor Vehicle (AMVIC) the advising.
“At all do not speak with them, only hang up a tube,” Bean Hamilton, head AMVIC has told.
Land communication lines and cellphones through area have been flooded by inquiries last month from the groups addressing, sell the expanded guarantees. Consumers welcome or with the written down message, advising to them, that their guarantee of a vehicle has or will expire, and to press a key, to speak with the representative, or they receive inquiry directly from the person searching for the information of a credit card to buy a guarantee.
To consumers then offer a five years' guarantee, somewhere between 1 000$ and 2 400$.
However, the expanded guarantees on vehicles consider as insurance, and also are adjusted by the Insurance law. Any companies, selling it, require the licences which have been let out by Council Alberts Insurance which is no by these groups, Hamilton has told. Fraud not the new phenomenon, and at first became appreciable in Albert in the last autumn. In January, the government of British Columbia has let out the termination and to abstain the order against many companies, including being in Missouri Worldwide Guarantees, and Canadian Auto Guarantee Services.
In November, AMVIC has warned concerning the similar fraud involving the American Guarantee Center of the company which offered a five years' guarantee for 175$.
Daily Herald-Tribune named a free phone number selected from the Guarantee website of the Center (.thewarrantycenter), and spoke with Hall Moisey which has told, that it was the president of the company. He has told, that its company did not name the Guarantee Center, but Auto Advantage Inc, and it posessed a website with 1992. While he knew about fraud, Моисей has told, that its company has no relation to it. Based from Heights Yorktown, about New York, Моисей has told, that it had Auto Advantage within 30 years, has staff three, and does not do inquiries of telemarketing abroad.
“We not the company, it does inquiries, it - actually the company – is good, these are three or four various companies – what receives the majority of people, or Guarantee Services, or they name themselves the Guarantee Center. It should try to occur at the existing companies which are in the Internet which actually are engaged in commerce a correct way,” has told Моисей, adding, that it worked with the authorities to try to stop inquiries.
“That happens, even if someone buys a guarantee and charges it, by then, when they understand, that they were scammed, a guarantee through the company which does not exist any more, they cannot return the money, they cannot reach anybody,” he has told.
Hamilton recognised, that attempt to stop inquiries, it could appear, would be difficult.
“By then, when you try to find for these guys …, I have left numerous messages in one company. Anybody will never call back to me from a place and if I really speak with someone, they place me through in someone's vocal mail,” he has told. “I leave the message, and anybody ever does not call back to me.”
Irrespective of, who does inquiries, the fact, that they occur, could not arrive to the worst time for motor industry which is shaken from recession, agents on sale of cars of Prairie Grande have told.
“It is definitely destructive for auto the industries, and they deceive people, thus it not a good thing for any,” Jayson DeBlois, the general director of Prairie Grande a Crysler Jeep Dodge has told, adding, that it has received at least the complaint to a dozen, and worries concerning loss of potential clients.
Charles Longmate, the general director of Windsor Ford, has told, that he did not worry concerning losing clients, but that it “has been more disturbed by the people buying these expanded guarantees from these people, and then they arrive to our shop, and they do not have any guarantee.”
Both Longmate and DeBlois advised to consumers which were stretched, guarantees should be bought always directly from the dealer where the vehicle has been bought.
“If someone wishes to buy the expanded guarantee, at us is operating affairs which care of things. They basically sit their (clients) downwards, and they pass all various elections for the expanded guarantee,” Longmate.
If consumers continue to receive inquiries, DeBlois has told, that they “should hang up and name only substantially the dealer from whom they have bought a vehicle and to confirm, whether their guarantee status with them is.”
